Rotational Program

Consider Calpine's Rotational Analyst / Associate Program

Stand Out from the Crowd – Energize your career at one of the nation's leading independent power producers. Our two-year rotational program jump starts your career with broad exposure to our electricity and natural gas trading, risk management and power marketing business. We keep our annual class of recruits small – typically 6 to 12 per year – to ensure that you get personal attention, choice assignments, career development and access to senior management.

Experience the Power – You'll become an integral part of our Calpine Commercial Operations organization, working each day in the heart of our trading floor in downtown Houston. Our group operates in real-time. We create additional value arising from our assets in conjunction with market opportunities in the natural gas and power markets. recruitphoto By actively hedging and optimizing around our assets – our modern fleet of power plants serving North America's 10 electric reliability councils – the team gains valuable market intelligence and creates substantial incremental profits for the company. You'll be in a position to contribute and excel in this fast-paced environment.

Showcase Your Skills – We are looking for candidates with creative and innovative minds. We recruit undergrads with degrees in finance, accounting, economics, engineering, mathematics or an equivalent quantitative degree. Our standards are high – a 3.5 GPA or above – but so is our compensation, which ranks among the highest in the industry.

At the graduate level, we are looking for individuals with similar backgrounds for our associate program: an MBA with a concentration in finance, accounting, economics, engineering or mathematics. If you've taken finance classes with an emphasis in energy, this is definitely a plus.

recruitphotoBe A Leader – By program end, you'll have had three rotations in three different business functions. You'll have been mentored by a senior level staff member or manager. And you'll have had lots of fun in an environment that values high performance coupled with a good work/life balance. Next comes a career assessment and a meeting with an internal Calpine committee to identify the next position on your Calpine career ladder. They'll help you find a position that matches your career goals and interests. Just a few short years after completing the rotation program, the varied learning opportunities our participants have embraced have often led them to key management positions within our organization.

Plug into the Process We are recruiting at some of Texas' top universities. The following schools are currently on our calendar. Check back regularly for schedule updates.
