Sherman Avenue began commercial operation in 1991 and is operated as a peaking unit.  Calpine acquired the facility in 2010 as part of its purchase of the Conectiv Energy assets.  The combustion turbine is equipped with water injection and continuous emissions monitoring systems for emissions monitoring and control.  This unit can be operated locally or via remote control.  A 1,600 horsepower engine-driven gas compressor boosts natural gas line pressure for combustion in the turbine.
