The Bethpage Peaker facility is located in Hicksville, New York, adjacent to the Bethpage Power Plant. The Bethpage Peaker is a merchant plant and provides electric power to the New York Independent System Operator.  This unit maximizes summer output through the use of inlet air chilling and reduces air emissions through the use of selective catalytic reduction and an oxidation catalyst, making it among the most efficient and cleanest facilities of its type.

Calpine owns and operates four other power plants on Long Island – the 56-megawatt Bethpage Power Plant, the 80-megawatt Bethpage Energy Center 3, the 47-megawatt Stony Brook Power Plant and the 121-megawatt cogeneration unit located at Kennedy International Airport.
