The Deer Park Energy Center, located in Deer Park, Texas, is the largest power plant in Calpine’s fleet. The plant supplies steam to Shell Chemical Company and generates electric power that is sold into the wholesale market.  An expansion completed in June 2014 added approximately 260 megawatts to the plant’s baseload capacity and improved its overall efficiency.

Offsetting more than 3,000 tons per year of NOx emissions in the Houston area, Deer Park is an industry leader in environmental stewardship. In 2004, the plant’s efficiency earned it an EnergyStar® Combined-Cycle Heat and Power Award from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy. Deer Park has also been recognized by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality as a Clean Texas Bronze Member.
