My internship at Calpine has been a great foundation for my future energy-focused career. Interacting with various departments across Calpine has enhanced my understanding of energy market operations and their regulatory frameworks. A highlight from my experience this summer was my visit to our Geysers facilities where I gained firsthand insight on how we harness geothermal energy at the plant.

My time interning at Calpine was extraordinarily beneficial and informative. My internship gave me the opportunity to broaden my understanding of the energy industry and provided me exciting hands-on learning opportunities. I really enjoyed the company’s culture as well as meeting many wonderful Calpine employees and learning about their time at Calpine. One particularly memorable opportunity was traveling to some of the charities that Calpine supports; it was a fantastic experience to see Calpine’s philanthropic impact first-hand.

My internship at Calpine has been an enriching experience, enhancing my professional skills as I get closer to entering the workforce. I was unaware of the technical complexity of how power is generated at the facilities and eventually delivered to my home. I now have a much better understanding of that process and the business behind it all. Calpine is great place to work, with great people.
-Joel Hickey, Legal External Communications Intern, Corporate Office, TX (University of Oklahoma)
During my time at Calpine, everyone, especially my wonderful supervisor, Ashley, has been extremely welcoming and excited to talk to and get to know us. This culture created an amazing experience beyond what I had imagined or expected. I was assigned projects that felt substantial and allowed me to learn so much about the inner workings of the energy industry and the tremendous amount of work required to supply the energy that keeps people’s electricity running.

As a student who is focusing on learning about power engineering, my time here at Calpine has been extremely insightful. Along with that, the employees of Calpine have been very welcoming to me, and I’ve had a great time with them over the past summer. Overall, my experience here has been extremely enriching, and it has contributed greatly to my career.
