Goose Haven Energy Center

The Goose Haven Energy Center is a “peaker” facility located in Suisun, California.  The single natural gas-fired, aero-derivative combustion turbine generator at Goose Haven is used to rapidly respond to peak system electricity demands.

As a part of the overall strategic plan to prevent future blackouts, the State of California engaged Calpine to build a series of peaker projects, which are smaller energy facilities that operate during periods of high power demand.  As part of this program, Calpine built the Goose Haven Energy Center. Today, these highly flexible, quick-responding plants help integrate intermittent renewable resources into the state’s power grid. The electricity from the Goose Haven Energy Center is committed to the Pacific Gas and Electric Co. under a power purchase agreement.
