The Metcalf Energy Center, located in San Jose, California, is a highly efficient, natural gas-fired, combined-cycle facility with advanced air emissions control technologies.  Its major equipment consists of two combustion turbine generators equipped with steam injection power augmentation capabilities, two heat recovery steam generators with duct burners, a single condensing steam turbine generator and associated support equipment.

Metcalf Energy Center produces power for the San Jose area, which has been identified by the California System Operator as one of the most generation-deficient areas in the state.

The plant’s cooling water needs are met through use of recycled water purchased from the City of San Jose.
